Kodiguddu pulusu

Authentic Andhra style sweet and sour egg curry, where hard boiled eggs are cooked in tangy tamrind gravy. (Kozhi guddu pulusu / Andhra egg curry )

Ingredients
3 nos Eggs
2 nos Onions
1 no Tomato
2 nos Green chilli (slit open)
3 clove Garlic
3 tsp Tamrind juice (or thick store bought pulp 1/4 tsp)
6 nos Curry leaves
3 stks Corrainder leaves
¼ tsp Mustard
¼ tsp Cumin seeds
5 nos Fennugreek seeds
¼ tsp Split black gram
¼ tsp Asafoetida powder
¼ tsp Turmeric powder
3 tsp Red chilli powder
4 tsp Corrainder/dhania powder
½ tsp Cumin powder
1 tsp Salt (or to taste)
1 pinch Sugar
3 tbsp Oil
1 cup Water

Instructions

Hard boil eggs, peel the skin and keep them aside.

Heat oil in a pan slightly toast mustard, cumin, fennugreek seeds and black gram along with asafoetida. Saute chopped onions, green chillies and garlic. When it turns slighly brown add chopped tomatoes and cook them until soft. Add turmeric, red chilli , corrainder, cumin powder and salt to the mixture and fry for few minutes.

Now add tamrind pulp, sugar and water and bring it to boil and reduce to simmer. When the gravy thickens, add boiled eggs and cook for few more minutes.

Garnish with curry and corrainder leaves and serve with steaming hot rice or warm roti.

    Hi Mullai,
    I tried your hotel sambar, cilantro chicken,hotel kurma, mughlai mutton, muniyandi villas style chicken kolombu,yogurt pulao,mutton n brinjal gravy,green peas subji, lima beans poriyal, kothu cauliflower curry and mutton biriyani… everything turned out great! I’m still trying out ur recipes.. today will try out the puffs and chepa pulusu.. thank u so so much for such great recipes! 🙂
    The hotel sambar and cilantro chicken kolombu in particular got everyone asking me if I had got from the restaurant!

    Thank you mullai..! I was searching this receipe from long time and trying myself from the taste I has experienced outside.. I tried sterday and it was great..! Nandri.. Could you please get andra pappu receipe? same thuvaram paruppu (Thoor Dal) with little tangy taste n highly spicey.

    You can even add the paste of Onion and tomato and add it before adding the tamarind pulp. it would make the gravy thick. also try adding coconut powder when the gravy is getting bioled. it would taste awesome.

    Yes Sri,
    Mullai mam’s website is something special. Have you noticed there is no annoying pop ups or ads here. Different & Well presented recipes (excluding my messed up work). She encourages members much and it makes us feel like this is our own website. I am addicted to this website – now early morning while having tea iam browsing it.
