Kala channa gravy/ Black channa gravy

| ½ cup | Kondaikadalai(black channa) |
| 1 no | Onion(chopped) |
| 2 inch | Cinnamon stick |
| 3 nos | Cloves |
| 10 nos | Curry leaves |
| ¼ cup | Grated coconut |
| 1 tsp | Aniseeds(sombu) |
| 3 tbsp | Oil |
| 1 tsp | Chili powder |
| 3 tsp | Coriander powder |
| Salt (as per taste) |
Instructions
Soak kodadaikadalai overnight or 8 hours. Pressure cook kondaikadalai with little water….strain the water and wash it one time. Keep aside.
Grind coconut with aniseeds/sombu with 1/4 cup water.
Heat oil in the kadai. Put cinnamon and cloves, then add onion and curry leaves. When onion starts to turn brown add kondaikadalai, chili powder, coriander powder and salt. Fry for 5 minutes to remove the raw smell from powders. Now add ground coconut paste. Let it for 5 minutes. Switch off.
You can serve with white rice, sambar , rasam, mour kuzhambu,curd rice and chappathi.
