Ingredients | |

1 cup | Whole brown lentils |
1 no | Big onion (finely chopped) |
1 no | Green chilli |
1 drop | Oil |
1 cup | Water |
Salt to taste |
Instructions
1. Pressure cook all the ingredients for 4 or 5 whistles.
2. Let Cool and Grind to coarse paste.
Notes
1. Soak overnight for easy cooking.
2. Serve with Plain Rice and Ghee.
3. Use the water used for cooking kollu for making kollu rasam.
4. Grind kollu parruppu with very little water.

This is a good one for health..
If possible use small onions for this kollu paruppu.. Pressure cook the horse gram alone and after cooking use the water which was used for cooking the grams for rasam (it will be very tasty & more healthy). And grind the cooked gram & small onions (sambar onion),green chilli, curry leaves,coriander seeds/powder (one spoon) try to avoid adding water if not possible just sprinkle the while grinding…

Yes, Kollu is very good for health. It reduces bad cholesterol. My granny used to make this using ural (mortar-stone). It will be dry (like usili) and we would have it with hot rice and ghee .. nostalgic days..
