Keep a kadai in a stove…heat oil for sautering add mustard, black gram dal, channa dal,red chillies ..add chopped onion n stir it well until its turns transparent…add chopped ginger pieces, garlic pieces n green chillies to the onion…stir them well for 5 minutes…now add the cooked yam pieces…put the flame to sim..add salt n never add water…stir it well n fry slowly in simmer flame…smash the yam pieces a little bit with a wooden spatule…yam pieces shouldnt be cooked well…add grated coconut now n off the stove..stir the mix n cool it…
Meanwhile grind the roasted split chick peas to powder…sieve it..n keep away the powder.Grind the yam pieces mix in a blender…shouldnt add even a single drop of water…it will be difficult to grind the yam pieces. Try to grind it nicely like vada maavu.

Serve with ketchup…
Notes
Elephantfoot yam is rich in proteins after Okra…while removing the skin of elephantfoot yam u may have itchings to prevent this take 1 tbs of oil n spread as hand cream to ur hands…some may be allergic to this vegetable..
Can do the same cola urundai with vazhaipoo (banana flower too)..
