This is a very delicious Punjabi dish, a thick gravy made with potatoes and green peas served with roti or paratha.

1 tsp | Ginger garlic paste |
1 no | Potato (cubed) |
½ cup | Green peas |
2 tsp | Butter or ghee |
3 tbsp | Oil |
¼ tsp | Cumin seeds |
¼ tsp | Fennel seeds |
1 no | Bay leaf |
1 inch | Cinnamon |
2 nos | Cloves |
2 nos | Cardamon |
¼ tsp | Turmeric powder |
2 tsp | Red chilli powder |
3 stks | Coriander leaves (chopped for garnishing) |
½ tsp | Garam masala powder |
1 tsp | Salt (or to taste) |
2 tsp | Coriander powder |
½ cup | Water |

Heat oil in a deep pan, add cumin, bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, cardamon and fennel seeds, then fry onions and green chillies. When it turns translucent add ginger garlic paste and chopped tomatoes, cook until they become tender and juicy.
Now add cubed potatoes and green peas along with turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder , garam masala and salt. Saute this over medium heat for few seconds, add water and let it simmer for 10 minutes until the potatoes are cooked perfectly. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with crispy paratha or soft roti.
