Kakra

Description

Kakra is a perfect rajastani style of snack. and it is served with pickle. it is very easy  to prepare we can preserve this kakra chappathis for a month. get ready to taste a crispy snack. 🙂
Ingredients
2 cup Wheat flour (chapathi flour)
¾ tsp Powdered salt
Water ( as per need)

Instructions

Mix wheatflour and salt. Add enough water to make a dough. knead well for few minutes. Make balls and roll out thin chappathis.
Heat a thin tawa and roast each chappathi applying ghee on both the sides till golden brown. Fry all the chappathis in same manner and keep aside.
Now place a heavy tawa .When tawa gets hot enough put the prepared chappathi and take a cloth press on top of the chappathi giving pressure evenly and at the same time roll chappathi in round motion constantly till it is browned.
turn over once and repeat the same process till chappathi gets crisp enough.
We can make variation in this kakra by adding jeera seeds,red chilli powder and turmeric powder. then we can call it as masala kakra.
Serve kakra with pickle.

kakra is a verry crispy chappathi….i used to call it as chappathi biscuit…..just try out and enjoy

    Divya,
    I tried your kakra yesterday and it came out well, I added ajwain to dough and for pressing kakra I used a cup to press. Thanks for sharing this recipe.

    Divya,
    Delicious kakra. My rajathani neighbours make this kakra often, they used to keep 10 chappathis on top of kakra and press evenly as you mentioned. I love kakras, now since you reminded will try soon. Thanks for sharing.

    hi keerthi , we can store it for a month. if the kakra is not prepared as mentioned then it will surely turn rubbery and hard texture. we have to be patient while rolling and preparing. try and tell me.
