Simple home-style stir fry. Very healthy dish.
Banana flower poriyal/stir fry/ Plantain flower poriyal/ Vazhaipoo poriyal

| 1 no | Banana flower |
| 1 tsp | Mustard and urad |
| 1 no | Red chili(broken into two) |
| 5 nos | Curry leaves |
| 3 no | Shallots(chopped) |
| ½ tsp | Asafoetida |
| 1 tbsp | Grated coconut |
| 3 pinch | Turmeric powder |
| Salt (as per taste) |
Instructions
Clean the banana flower. Chop the cleaned florets and soak them in buttermilk to prevent to avoid discolouration.
Heat 2 tsp oil in a kadai. Add mustard and urad, when it starts to splutter add chopped shallots, red chili, curry leaves,asafoetida one by one. Fry for 1 minute, now add chopped florets(drain the water before adding). Sprinkle the turmeric powder and little water. Close with lid. Let it for 10 minutes in medium heat. Open the lid after 10 minutes and add salt. Mix everything an keep simmer for 5 minutes. Add grated coconut and switch off. Serve with kara kuzhambu/ puli kuzhambu or plain white rice.
