| 1 cup | Chennakunni(dried baby shrimps) |
| ½ cup | Urad dal |
| ¼ cup | Channa dal |
| ¾ cup | Roasted gram(pottukadalai) |
| 1 T | Peppercorns |
| ½ T | Cuminseeds |
| 10 nos | Red chillis(can increase r decrease) |
| 20 nos | Curry leaves |
| 1 tsp | Asafoetida powder |
| Salt as per taste | |
| 1 tsp | Oil |
Instructions
U can find these baby dried shrimps in frozen section in chinese store..defrost 1 cup of baby shrimps for a while..heat a pan n add these baby shrimps n dry roast them until they turns slight brownish..mostly these shrimps r already cleaned ..in case if u get them in India clean them well dont use water to clean them..
Keep aside the roasted dried baby shrimps n let them cool..now heat the oil in the same pan n fry urad dal, channa dal, roasted gram, peppercorns, cumin seeds, curry leaves, redchillies one by one..once everything is well roasted add everything in the same pan n add the asafoetida powder n fry for a while , now put off the stove…keep aside n let them cool.. take the food processor n add the roasted dals n roasted shrimps n grind them coarsely with salt as per taste..Conserve them in an air tightened bottle.
Chennakunni(dried baby shrimps)Idli Podi is ready..Serve them with hot idlis n gingelly oil..can also have them with hot idlis without oil..
Really this idli podi will taste awesome..
