Chutney(For Beginners)

ChutneyThis was the first chutney ever i did as a beginner.I learnt this from my amma.Easy to do with less ingredients in hand.Off course it’s tasty too:-).Good to have with Dosai,idli,rava dosai and as per your wish after trying this..
Ingredients
2 nos Onion (cut into big dices)
1 no Tomato (diced)
1 tbsp Udar dal / ulutham paruppu
5 nos Red chili [adjust as per ur preference]
1 tsp Mustard seeds
6 nos Curry leaves (for tempering)

Instructions

Main Ing

Step 1.

Heat 2 T of oil in a skillet.Add 1T of Urad dal and the red chillies .Fry till it reaches golden brown.

After CuttingAfter Cutting

Step 2.

Add the Diced onions to the skillet.U can add salt to it at this point..this makes the sauting process quicker.Saute till it becomes transparent.Now add the Diced tomato to it..saute it for few more minutes till it get cooked.Thatz it …Got over..:-)

 

Step 3:

Allow the mixture to cool.Grind it coarsely or according to ur liking.coz i like to keep our chutney coarsely.. It all depends on persons liking..

Step 4:

Temper with Mustard.Urad dal and curry leaves .(one by one)

Notes

This chutney is versatile..u can keep this as a base and u can add many more to it.if u like to add coriander leaves(a hand full)/Mint (hand full)/coconut(hand full) that will give u a different taste.So “Many in one”…Give a try…Happy cooking..Take care..
