Description
A spicy vegetable samba rava upma, very healthy suitable for evening snack, goes well with ketchup or yogurt. you can also try this with white rava.
Ingredients | |

1 cup | Samba rava |
1 cup | Vegetable(carrot, beans, peas, corn, ) |
1 no | Onion small ( chopped) |
1 T | Ginger garlic (finely chopped) |
1 tsp | Mustard and cumin seeds |
1 stks | Curry leaves |
3 stks | Coriander leaves (chopped ) |
2 T | Peanuts (groundnut) |
1 pinch | Turmeric powder |
1 tsp | Sambar powder |
2 cup | Water |
2 T | Oil |
1 T | Ghee |
1 tsp | Salt or to taste |
1 no | Green chili (optional) |
Instructions
Heat ghee in a kadai, add samba rava and saute for 2 minutes or until the aroma comes. then transfer this sauted rava into a wide plate and let it cool until the other steps are done. Heat oil in the kadai and add mustard seeds. After it splutters, add cumin seeds then peanuts. Do all these in medium flame. saute well until peanuts turn light biscuit brown. Then add chopped onions,green chilli,ginger, garlic, curry leaves and vegetables. Saute just for 1 min.Then add water. Add sambar powder,turmeric powder and salt to this water and mix well. Allow it to boil until veg. are cooked. Then add samba rava and saute well until all water is absorbed. Garnish with corriander leaves.
Notes
Adding different kinds of vegetables are your choice. At the end if u feel water is not enough, add little bit and then saute. After adding rava, do saute in medium flame.

Came out very well… made this for dinner with mint chutney .. Tks for the receipe ..i didnt have corn , but then added all the veges i cud find in the fridge ….

Hi Viji,
Adding sambar podi to the recipe is a different touch altogther – enhancing the flavour – hence probes me to try this recipe… Pic looks colourful….

yes anjali, wheat rava and this can be given to kids too.. just check if it is well cooked thats it…
