If you have diabetes, this is an ideal appetizer for you. When you’re eating too much hot and oily stuff, this soup seems to cool down your body system. It’s a great soup to add to your daily meals or at least twice a week. Wonderful recipe which I happened to learn from my mom. Use your imagination, add in a couple of veggies to reduce the bitterness and to enhance the taste. Notoriously bitter of all vegetables, so, I have added lots of ripe tomatoes (canned) to make it more like tomato soup, but not really necessary.
Palak / Spinach rice, children will like it , it can be sent in tiffin boxes.
Besan / kadalai mavu ladoo is a festival dish specially made during Diwali. This sweet is prepared mainly in Maharashtra. It is very easy to prepare.
Seeds are packed with nutrients, sprouted seeds are even better. Sprouts grown at home are the freshest food you’ll ever eat, hi… so why not give it a try. All it needs is little air, water, warmth, space and light. I use a white handkerchief, you can use a wet cheese cloth or any thin white cotton cloth. Some seeds take 4 to 5 days to sprout here in USA. To start with, I’ve tried with whole Moong dal (Whole Green Gram). Let me share a picture of this gram, when the outer covering removed and split, its called split green gram or split mung/ split moong dal, whole mung/moong dal looks dark green. Now lets go to the sprouting procedure
Paruppu usili is a south Indian dish often made with green beans, but here I have tried it with Okra(Vendakkai), which is a rare combination I suppose, but still worth a try. (Okra paruppu usili / Ladies finger paruppu usili)
