2 nos | Onion (cut into big dices) |
1 no | Tomato (diced) |
1 tbsp | Udar dal / ulutham paruppu |
5 nos | Red chili [adjust as per ur preference] |
1 tsp | Mustard seeds |
6 nos | Curry leaves (for tempering) |
Instructions
Step 1.
Heat 2 T of oil in a skillet.Add 1T of Urad dal and the red chillies .Fry till it reaches golden brown.
Step 2.
Add the Diced onions to the skillet.U can add salt to it at this point..this makes the sauting process quicker.Saute till it becomes transparent. Now add the Diced tomato to it..saute it for few more minutes till it get cooked.Thatz it …Got over..:-)
Step 3:
Allow the mixture to cool.Grind it coarsely or according to ur liking.coz i like to keep our chutney coarsely.. It all depends on persons liking..
Step 4:
Temper with Mustard.Urad dal and curry leaves .(one by one)
Notes
This chutney is versatile..u can keep this as a base and u can add many more to it.if u like to add coriander leaves(a hand full)/Mint (hand full)/coconut(hand full) that will give u a different taste. So “Many in one”…Give a try…Happy cooking..Take care..
