Start you instant pot with saute mode.

Saute onions with green chillies until lightly brown.

Now add in pureed tomatoes along with sugar.
Followed by turmeric powder, kashmir chilli powder, coriander powder and salt. Saute well for few minutes. Add about 1/2 cup water.
This is the brand kashmir chilli powder i am using….its not that spicy.. very mild suits for most north indian gravies & gives bright red color to gravies that you do not have to add red food coloring to your dishes.
Look at the color of that gravy… it will bright red initially and as you pressure cook it will bring in intense red color.
Adding garam masala is optional… a little will add extra punch to your masala. If using uncooked green peas, you may add it at this stage.
Close and lock the pressure release. Cancel saute mode and switch to high pressure cook mode and set timer for 15 minutes.
Let it cook and let the pressure release naturally. Once you open the gravy will release more oil to the top.
Open the pot, add in fresh cubed paneer and cooked green peas.
Add in finely ground cashew power.
Followed by cream.
Switch back to saute mode and simmer the gravy until it thickens.
Turn off once the desired consistency is reached.Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

What type of hot green Chile’s? Serrano? Jalapeño?
Hello Tara, these are kind of Thai Bird Eye Chillies , really hot variety. They are sold mostly in Indian & Chinese grocery stores here. Some stores even sell long green chillies, kind of bright green in color… they are mild compared to these. Serrano is very plumpy..its hot but doesn’t suit for our Indian dishes, same with jalapeno. You may use if don’t have an option. Thanks!
Instead of instant pot can I use pressure cooker mam?
Of course Latha, you can use a pressure cooker, give about 2 whistles that should be enough to cook the gravy. Thank you?
Made this recipe tonight and it was so easy and delicious ! Thank you for sharing.
Happy to hear Priya, thank you so much for your feedback!
