Description
This is an instant side dish for idli and dosai varieties.you can serve it with gingely oil/ghee.some even used to have it along with curd.

10 nos | Dry red chillies |
1 cup | Urad dhal(ooluntham paruppu) |
Asafoetida powder | |
Saltas required |
Instructions
In a pan add just 2drops of oil and fry the dry red chilies till they turn dark brown and keep aside.In the same pan fry the urad dal till a nice aroma comes and it turns to golden brown.Let this cool .In a dry grinding mixie jar first grind the chilies ,after it has become flakes add urad dal,asafoetida powder and salt.Now grind it to a coarse powder.
Store it in a dry,airtight container.while serving u can mix with gingely oil/ghee.
Notes
you can add solid form of asafoetida instead of powder.In that case fry the asafoetida in oil and then add.the taste would be good if u add solid ones.
Don't grind to a fine powder.if u touch, u should feel the urad dal .
you can substitute 3/4 urad dal and 1/4 bengal gram if needed.
my chilies are too hot so i have used only 10nos.adjust according to ur taste

Sorry didnt mention tat it was awesome. actually i made 3 podis that week. all 3 were different & awesome. but ate lot podi for sometimes so now we are abit sick of it.. will make after sometimes again… we really really loved it…
