A tasty gravy prepared from ellu and tamarind pulp
Ingredients | |

1 T | Oil |
Salt | |
1 stks | Corriander and curry leaves for garnishing |
pinch | Perungayam |
1 tsp | Corriander powder |
1 tsp | Chilli podwer |
Any vegetables(drumstick,chow chow, kothavarankai) | |
1 tsp | Musard seeds |
Lemon Sz | Tamarid |
1 no | Onion |
1 T | Raw rice (pachai arisi) |
2 T | Ellu(til/nuvvulu) |
Instructions
Soak Tamarind for 15 mins and take the pulp. Cut onions roughly. Grind ellu, rawa rice and onion into a fine paste. Wash and cut the vegetable of your choice( u can use drumstick, kothavarankai, chow chow etc for this dish )
In Kadai, heat oil. Add Mustard seeds and curry leaves. When it splutters, add the vegetable with little salt and water. cover till the vegatale is cooked.Add Chilli powder, corriander powder, perungayam and salt to the vegetable. Add tamarind juice. when it boils, add the ground masala. Bring it to boil and keep in sim for 3-4 mins. Garnish with corriander leaves. Serve with steamed rice.
Notes
Mom Uses Vadagam instead of mustard seeds. since i dont have and dont know to make vadagam i used mustard instead.

I made this last nite and it came out very well… its a new one and is very good.
A very new recipe … i havent heard of … will try this and tell you how it came out … and Preethi, if you are in Chennai … you can get vadagam in Ambika Appalam Depots, They add special aroma and flavour while seasoning.
Preethi, this kuzhambu is new for me….would like to try soon.
