Cheese Masala Toast Sandwich, a filling and healthy sandwich recipe prepared with spicy potato filling and cheese. This Aloo stuffed sandwich is very easy to prepare and can be made in under 15 minutes.
It is very ideal for breakfast and can also be enjoyed as a snack.
What Bread to use?
You may use any type of bread of preference. White bread mostly preferred for sandwich as its gets very crispy when toasted. You may choose Multi grain or Brown bread to keep it healthy!
What kind of Potato Filling?
Filling can be very simple using just the boiled potato with salt and turmeric. You may add additional spices to keep it spicier!
What sauces makes it tasty?
Basic Green Chutney and Tomato ketchup is all it takes. You may add spicy garlic chutney or red sauce to heat or add mayonnaise for rich flavor.

Cheese Masala Toast Sandwich
Ingredients
- 8 slice Bread White or Multi grain
- 2 each Potato
- 2 cups Water to steam / boil
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp Red Chili powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 4 tsp Green
Chutney - 4 tsp Red Chutney Spicy chilli sauce or Ketchup works
- 4 tsp Onion minced
- 1 slice Cheese
- 4 tsp Butter
Optional Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Grated paneer / Grated white cheese
- 4 tsp Mayonnaise
- 4 tsp Sev
Instructions
Steam Potato
- Fill inner pot of pressure cooker or Instant pot with water.
- Place potato in the steamer basket.
- Put the lid on cook for 2 whistles if using a traditional pressure cooker or pressure cook over high pressure for 10 minutes using an Instant Pot.
- Cut into halves, peel off the skin and set aside the cooked potato.
Potato Masala
- Take cooked potato in a bowl, add turmeric powder, red chili powder and salt.
- Mix and mash well with a fork and set this aside.
Sandwich assembly
- Spread butter on either sides of the bread.
- Spread green chutney on one and spicy garlic or ketchup on the other.
- Place some potato masala and spread on top of it.
- Sprinkle finely chopped onion.
- Place a slice or cheese over it. Alternately you also use grated cheese or paneer for more thick rich filling.
- Place the other bread on top and toast.
Toasting
- Place the assembled sandwich over a pan and press it down gently to toast over medium heat for 5 minutes on each side or until it turns golden & crispy!
- Alternately you may choose to grill over sandwich press or use an Air Fryer.
- Pre heat air fryer to 400F for 3 minutes. Toast for a total of 6 minutes, flipping once after first 3 minutes.
- Serve warm with choice of chutney or enjoy it with tomato sauce or ketchup!
