Minced Eral mixed with roasted gram flour (Pottukadalai / Channa / Dalia flour), shaped into little vadais and deep fried. Rare chettinad influenced recipe, perfect appetizer and also a great side for any non -veg meal. (Shrimp Vadai / Prawn Vadai / Royyala Vadai )
English to Tamil, Shrimp / Prawn — Eral.
Zucchini is a summer squash which belongs to cucumber family. Had a couple of them at home and was breaking my head to come up a recipe to include this goody in our meal. Just then, when browsing my own site, a Thai yellow curry recipe, got displayed under the Google ads block, that's it!! a great idea popped up. This particular dish, usually comes with loads of zucchini squash combined with bell peppers and tastes similar to our kurma. Voila!!! that's how Zucchini kurma made its way into Spiceindiaonline.
Dhaba style preparations are always a treat for palates,… sizzling tandoori, kebabs and smoky masalas..literally makes us addicted to Punjabi food. Here's an easy preparation for one such dish…Green peas cooked in rich tomato gravy with special blend of Punjabi spices. Certain authentic Punjabi spices are very rare, not easily available in market, so have to come up with an easy solution. My quick pick was Chole masala, which has got a strong blend of all the punjabli spices and suits well for this recipe.
Upkari is a term used for any stir fry dishes in Konkani. This dish would be primarily made with any one veggie with the combination of potatoes. Here I've made an attempt to combine cabbage with potatoes, lightly tempered, well seasoned with soft channa dal and garnished with fresh grated coconut.
Punukulu are little crispy fritters from Andhra region, often had as a tea time snack or even as a breakfast item in some parts. These are kind of inbetween bhaji and bonda, as the exterior looks golden and crispy, the inner portion tastes soft and chevy. Would be right to call it Moong Methu Pakora. (Moong Dal Fritters / Pesara Punukulu / Moong Dal Pakodi / Moong Dal Bhaji )
