Bombay Chutney

Description

Side for Dosa made from Channa Dal

Ingredients-1
2 nos Cinnamon (1 inch small)
2 T Sombu/aniseeds
½ cup Channa dal
6 nos Red chili
Ingredients-2
2 T Oil
2 nos Cinnamon (1 inch small)
2 nos Cloves
1 no Onion medium ( chopped )
1 T Salt ( as per taste)

Instructions

1. Wash and Soak Channa Dal for 1/2 hour.

2. Grind the soaked Channa Dal with all the ingredients from table 1 + water to a fine paste.

3. Dilute the ground mixture by adding 6 cups of water. This has to be really diluted to get the result in the desired consistency.

4. Heat oil in a kadai. Add cinnamon & clove from table 2. Add onion from table-2 & fry till it turns golden.

5. Now add the diluted mixture & salt to it.

6. Bring the mixture to a boil & transfer it to a serving bowl immediately.

 

7. Serve hot with dosa.

Notes

The quantity specified serves about 6 to 8 people.

If you don’t have the time to soak channa dal for 1/2 hour & wait, you may also use gram flour instead.

This side goes with dosa only.
