Description

Cornflour Halwa..tasty halwa with simple steps n the result was really yummy..colourful for eyes n easy to do..can replace usual Kesari..give a great surprise to family members..
Ingredients
1 cup Corn flour
2 cup Sugar
3 cup Water
¼ cup Ghee r butter
2 tsp Cardamom powder
2 pinch Food colour
6 nos Cashew nuts r almond nuts
1 pinch Salt

Instructions

Take a heavy bottomed pan, mix together cornflour , sugar, salt n water..mix everything nicely without any lumps ..heat the pan with the corn flour mix (it will ressembles like water)n stir it continously, after a while u may notice that they will start cooking n a transparent layer will appear while u take out ur spatula..at this stage keep the flame in simmer, add the pinches of food colour n stir them continously..after a while they turns completely as jelly as shown in picture, be alert coz it will happens really very fast, add cardamom powder, ghee to the cornflour jelly..after few minutes they will turn as a dough n get off from the bottom of the vessel..add the cashew nuts r almond nuts, if u r using cashew nuts fry them with little ghee before adding, for almond nuts chop them n add directly to the halwa..put off the stove, grease a plate n pour the halwa to the plate, let them cool for atleast one hour.

Cut them into small pieces n serve them chilled…Delicious Corn flour halwa is ready to serve.

Can keep in fridge for 3 days…Taste yummy..

    Hi
Somebody asked about the raw smell of the halwa.Better just dry saute (maavai kadaile varuthidunga)the flour before using. The raw smell will disappear.
    Really a nice one.
Keep on trying new receipes in corn flour,as a business man i am trying to introduce corn flour in south Tamilandu.

hi priya, i tried this yesterday. like u said, its easy and pretty fast to make. its was exactly the same as in ur pic.it was good. but while eating it had a very mild raw flavour of the corn flour. it was ignorable. but illama irundha innum nanna irundhirukum. Any suggestions?

Adding hot ghee will helps u to avoid those raw flavour of the corn flour..instead of adding directly ghee, heat them n add them little by little while making halwa..this helps to cook a bit the corn flour n u wont even have that mild raw smell too..i didnt happened to me that y i didnt mentioned it.. i think its depends upon the quality of flour..

Hi, your thinking is different and also very nice, I want to know cornflour won't give the hardness to halwa, becuase if we are using cornflour in cutlet and all it will give little hardness,

When will you use the ghee

    Pl. clear my doubt. regards

      priyasudha

Thanks a lot Amudha..no not at all, cornflour wont give hardness, while cooking they turn transparent n jelly like aspect..once they turns jelly, pour the ghee to the halwa..hope i would have cleared ur doubt..
