Description
Preparing this Prawn pickle is easy and with simple ingredients. Goes great with rice, idli, dosa and chappatti.

500 g | Prawn/shrimp |
100 g | Cumin powder |
50 g | Red chili powder |
15 clove | Garlic |
6 nos | Green chili |
200 ml | Vinegar |
1 T | Turmeric powder |
1 T | Mustard seeds |
Salt (as per taste) | |
200 ml | Refined oil |
Instructions
Clean the prawns and drain the water completely. Soak the prawns in 1/4 tblspn of turmeric powder and a pinch of salt for 5 mins. Now fry the prawns in a pan till the remaining water gets absorbed. Fry the garlic cloves and green chillies and keep it aside (remove it from heat before it turns brown).Mix cumin powder and red chilly powder with few tblspns of vinegar to a paste. In a pan heat oil and add mustard seeds(do not add urid dal). Now add the mixture to oil and fry for 30 secs. Add the fried prawns, garlic and green chillies to the gravy and saute for 2 mins. Add the remaining vinegar and salt to it and keep stirring till you get the consistency of a pickle gravy.
Allow it cool for an hour and store it in a air tight container. It lasts for months if preserved properly.
Notes
Adding green chillies is optional. More vinegar can be added later if the gravy gets thicker.
