My mom style  plantain fry. Side dish for sambar rice,curd rice,etc.

Raw banana fry.

Ingredients
2 no Plantain(medium size)
1½ tsp Chili powder
½ tsp Coriander powder
2 tbsp Grated coconut or coconut powder
1 tsp Fennel seed powder/sombu powder
½ Onion(optinal)

Instructions

Peel the plantains skin out and cot into 1/2" size round pieces. Take 1 cup(approx.) water in a pan and cook plantain pieces(7 to 10 minutes), When it is cooked(don't over cook), remove from heat. Strain the water keep aside.

In kadai heat 1 tbsp oil and fry the onions till they turn brown. Add chili powder, coriander powder, grated coconut or coconut powder, fennel seed powder, salt and 2 tbsp water mix well and add cooked plantain pieces. Masala coats with plantain. Now add 1 tbsp oil. Set the stove in over medium heat and start frying. Turn the pieces when you see the masala turn slightly dark from brown. Fry for 10 to 15 minutes to get roast. serve as a side dish.

Notes

For this fry i prefer only Indian store plantain.

      Kavi,

      I just make this day before yesterday. Very tasty. presentation is good. My daughter like it very much. She is asking this WE too. I did not add fennel seed powder but will do this time. The secret to this recipe is not to over cook/under cook the plaintain. If undercooked it will be very dry. if overcooked it will become mushy.
