The Perfect Pecan Pie – The Pioneer Woman’s Pecan Pie Recipe – How to make Pecan Pie – I love Pecan pie of all the pies out there 🙂 … it just tastes out of this world, sweet gooey with loads of pecans adding a crunchy feel!  Baking is not my cup of tea… but do try a few recipes inspired from watching food network 😀 The Pioneer Woman is one of my favorite food network chef, i love her simple cooking and baking recipes. This is one such picks that happened one fine day…. She calls her Pioneer woman Pecan Pie  “the pie that will make you cry,” so I couldn’t resist myself … gave it a try & Yes it did make me cry for more! From now on… whenever in mood for pie, i just blindly follow this keeper recipe!

The Perfect Pecan Pie Recipe

Pecan pie is a pie made of pecan nuts mixed with a filling of eggs, butter, corn syrup, white sugar & brown sugar.

Ingredients

Pie Crust

  • 1 & 1/3 cup Ready made pie crust dry mix I am using Betty Crocker Brand
  • 2 tablespoons Cold Water
  • 2 teaspoons Cold water

Ingredients for the filling

  • 1 cup White Sugar
  • 3 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Corn syrup
  • 3/4 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1/3 cup Melted Butter
  • 3 whole Eggs
  • 1/2 chopped Pecans
  • 1/2 whole Pecans

Instructions

To make the Unbaked Pie crust

  • Stir pie crust mix and cold water until the pastry forms a soft ball.
  • After stirring pastry into a smooth ball. Place in center of 9-inch pie plate; press evenly on bottom and side.

To Make the Pie

  • Preheat 350F
  • Mix white sugar, brown sugar and salt in a bowl.
  • Add in melted butter, corn syrup, vanilla and eggs. Whisk lightly.
  • Spread chopped pecans over the unbaked pie crust, pour in the syrup over it. Arrange whole pecans over it.
  • Cover with foil and place the pie plate in a baking sheet.  Bake for 30 minutes @350F 
  • Remove foil and continue baking for another 20 minutes.
  • Once done, allow it to cool for 2 hours or overnight. Serve in thin slivers.

To make the Unbaked Pie crust

After stirring the pastry turns into a smooth ball.      HOMEMADE WAFFLES

Place in center of 9-inch pie plate.   MICROWAVE MOLTEN LAVA CAKE

Press evenly on bottom and side. Keep it ready.

To Make the Pie

Preheat oven to 350F

Mix white sugar, brown sugar and salt in a bowl.
Add in melted butter… you may use salted butter or unsalted depending your preference.
Add in corn syrup and whisk lightly.
Add in vanilla extract.
Add in whole eggs and beat lightly in the mixture. Whisk gently.
Spread chopped pecans over the unbaked pie crust. The original recipe adds in chopped pecans about a cup… I am using half cup chopped nuts and the other half whole nuts for decoration on top.
Pour in the syrup over this chopped nuts… do not worry these will raise to the top once they bake.

Place the pie plate over a large oven proof tray. Arrange whole pecans over it. This is optional but just to make it fancy.
Using a fork… gently press the corners for more designed look.
Cover with foil and place it in 350F preheated oven.
Bake for 30 minutes covered with foil.  RED LOBSTER CHEDDAR BAY BISCUITS
After the first 30 minutes … it will look half baked but the filling will still be jiggly when you shake.  Continue baking uncovered for another 20 minutes.
Once done, allow it to cool for 2 hours or overnight. Serve in thin slivers.

Pecan pie can be frozen or kept at room temperature for a few days before serving.

The pie usually takes a while to set.. oven timing may vary by few minutes. Take care not to bake longer it might brown the nuts. The original recipe calls for baking first 30 minutes covered and thereafter uncovered for 20 minutes. Depending on your oven, it might either cooks in 15 minutes or may take a a little over 20 minutes.
