Marag [Mutton Stew]

A very rich and easy to make dish mainly prepared as a starter in hyderabad.

Ingredients
5 g Mutton [big pieces withbone]
1 tsp G.g.paste
1 tsp Pepper corns
1 no Onion (cut lengthwise)
2 stks Coriander and mint leaves chopped
2 no Green chili (finely chopped)
1 tsp Butter
1 tsp Almonds [paste]
1 tsp Cahewnuts [paste]
1 tsp Chironji [paste]
2 pinch Saffron
5 cup Water (for pressure cooking)
Salt (as per taste)
1 tsp Lemon juice

Instructions

Marag [Mutton Stew]

In a pressure cooker put mutton pieces ,ginger garlic paste,coriander ,mint leaves ,pepper corns ,green chillies,andwater . now cook the meat for 10 to 15 min till the meat is soft. after opening the cooker keep it on low flame ,add paste of almonds,cashew,chironji. now add lemon juice, butter,and saffron. garnish it with  chopped coriander .

Notes

This is served wth kulchas or rumali roti.

    Hi, in the ingrediants list you have mentioned onion but as per your instructions onions are not used while cooking. Please tell when and how should we onions in this recipe. I just cant wait to try it bcoz i never got marg recipe on any other site.

      Hello Sila,
      This recipe was contributed my one of our site members and I guess the onion should go in the pressure cooker along with other ingredients. If you think it may taste raw, then slightly saute in oil and then add the mutton pieces and rest of the ingredients and pressure cook. Either way it will work, hope this helps.     Hi visitor,

    your are mistaken me. I didnt hurt anybody. I am giving just my small suggestion. Compare to other site what u mentioned our SIO is 1000 times much better. this is my opnion (i hope all member has this same opnion). We have to differntiate our SIO from other site. So posting recipes with photo is the best features in this site. We have to encourage this. Anyway if i hurt anybody means really sorry.

    kanmani, i don’t think posting the recipes with pictures r compulsory. there r lots n lots of popular websites like bawarchi,sulekha,etc. thier members contri. r without pictures. people r encouraging them. only in this website visitors or some member visitors discouraging. mullai – is that any rule? we have to post the recipes with photos? if i don’t have camera then i can’t post the recipe? tell me………..

      Hi, why do you have to take it too personally?? it was just a suggestion. Adding image is an additional feature and not made compulsary yet. Members might find it useful when you post with pictures and is a simple issue. Camera is not a must but Coutesy is !! Nobody's stopping you from visiting "Bawarchi" and " Sulekha"…. pls out of here.

        so,mullai can digest words like’kalakeeteenga ponga,superb mam,and more complementory statements and you are pleased for only puhalndhu thalludhals and u have no courage to accept any commets, it was not even a negative comment, why do you write so rudely? if you like ony positve comments from members or users , better you can state’we encourage only positive comments and we people are not brave enough or we are not enough sportive to take up mixed comments’on the front page.or if you are not able to digest any suggestions, better remove the comments column.
