Raw Fish

Wash the fish ( Mackeral / Kingfish / Tilapia / Catfish / Pomfret )and cut them into pieces as desired. If using frozen fillet, thaw them before cooking. Take a bowl and mix chilli powder, dhania powder, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice and salt to form a thick paste. Rub this masala paste to both sides of the fish and set aside. In a heated tawa ( Iron griddle works better) add oil and place the fish and fry in medium flame for 4 to 5 minutes until nicely browned and just cooked through. Then flip it to the other side and let fry for few more minutes until it turns golden brown. repeat the same process for the remaining fillets adding oil if necessary. Fish need not be marinated for a long time, but if desired marinated fish can be stored refrigerator in an air tight container for a day or two. Freshly prepared fish fry tastes better and is often served as a side dish with any rice item and curry.

    Hi Mullai,
I really dont know how to cook fish though I can cook other dishes well. Even I dont know how to clean it so, I used frozen fillets. Although its frizen fillets, it tasted yummy. Guess, this fish fry would have been really awesome if i have used fresh one especially Mackeral. I made myself & had it :(( iam saving all ur recipes in my pc. will take them & give to my mom you know why food really tastes when others cook for us ;))

    Great work Mullai

Hi Manoo, fresh fish tastes good, but the problem is I don't live close to the coastal area, and its hard to find fresh Indian fish. So, I always stick with frozen fillets.
