Description:
Here is a way to make your own tasty pita chips in a matter of minutes. These herb-rubbed thin pita chips are an excellent alternative to potato chips and can be served as a snack with hummus or any dipping of your choice.
Herbed Pita Chips / Seasoned Pita Bread / Baked Chips / Pita Crisps / Pita Bread
Ingredients | |
---|---|
Pita Bread | 3 count (medium size) |
Oil | 3 tablespoon |
Red Chili powder | 1/2 teaspoon |
Turmeric powder | 1 pinch |
Garlic powder | 1 teaspoon |
Salt | 3/4 teaspoon |
Dried Chives | 1 teaspoon |
Instruction:
To begin with-lets pre-heat the oven to 375 F.
Choose thin pita bread and stack them one of top of another. Picture shows more than 3 pitas as I was planning to make a big batch but above recipe is for three 6″inch pitas. Cut pita breads in quarters and each quarter in half to make 8 triangles.
In a big wide bowl combine dried herb, turmeric, red chili powder, garlic powder, salt and whisk in oil. Now add the cut pitas and rub the seasoning on both sides. Arrange in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet. You may require more than one tray for arranging the pitas.
Place the tray in the middle rack of your oven and bake for 7 minutes. Take them out and flip the pitas and place them back in the oven.
Bake again for another 7 minutes.
Once done, let them cool completely and store in an air-tight container for upto 3 days.
Serve them with hummus or with any dipping that you like.
Notes:
Yield – 24 small pita triangles.
