Kailan n shrimp poriyal

Description

Kailan n shrimp poriyal, Tasty side dish..Kailan is also known as Chinese Kale or Chinese Broccoli. As a dark green leafy vegetable, Kailan has a good source of many vitamins and minerals your body needs to stay healthy, like vitamin A, vitamin C, folate and iron. It is also a great source of fiber. With shrimp its tastes very good..
Ingredients
2 cup Kailan leaves chopped
1 no Onion chopped
5 clove Garlic diced
½ no Tomato chopped
½ tsp Mustard seed
½ tsp Urad dal
4 nos Red chillies
10 nos Shrimps
2 tsp Oil
Salt as per taste

Instructions

Heat oil in a pan n splutter mustard seed n urad dal with red chillies, add chopped onion n diced garlic to them, stir them until onion turn transculent, now add the chopped tomatoes..stir everything for a while..Add shrimp pieces to the mix n stir until the shrimps turns rose, add the chopped Kailan leaves n stir them well..add salt n dont add water, as the kailan leaves water no need of adding water, cover with lid n cook in simmer until the water evaporates, put off the stove..

Serve with hot rice as side dish.. very easy to do n very healthy..

Notes

Kailan leaves r easily available in Chinese stores.

Kailan stems n flowers r also edible..

Can omit shrimps n add 2 tablespoon of grated coconut for the vegetarian version of this recipe..

    Is this leaf available in India or is there any other alternative leaf which can be used

      Hi Sarah..

      Am not sure whether its available in India ,but its largely available in Chinese stores here,can use thandu keerais as alternative to this leaves..
